Converse University will hold its annual Data Science and Cybersecurity Week from September 25 through October 2, 2026.
This week of campus events will include a range of activities designed to engage, educate, and empower our students, faculty, and staff during Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The events featured throughout the week will emphasize the importance of cybersecurity and data science, particularly in a business setting.
Schedule of Events
Friday, September 25, 2026: Datathon Kick-Off Event 12:00-3:00 pm, Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center
In partnership with our sponsor Live Healthy Spartanburg, students will dive into data related to chronic health conditions in the community. Our two focus questions will be:
- Is there a correlation between Adverse Childhood Experiences and the Impact on Chronic Health Conditions in Spartanburg County?
- Are there ways to delay onset or provide prevention measures?
We welcome Converse students of all majors, as individuals or in teams, to join in the Datathon.
Tuesday, September 29: Networking Event 4:30-6:00 pm, Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center
Wednesday, September 30: Keynote Speaker Event 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center Our 2026 Keynote Speaker is Dr. Grace Bagwell Adams ’07, Associate Professor of Housing Management and Policy in the Department of Financial Planning, Housing Policy, and Consumer Economics at the University of Georgia. She is the 2022 recipient of Converse’s Distinguished Alumna Award and gave the 2019 Keynote Address at Founder’s Day.
