Converse was ranked #17 among Southern Regional Universities and as the #3 Best Value in that category in U.S.News & World Report’s 2013 edition of America’s Best Colleges.
“Today, more than ever, our nation is actively grappling with how to assess the value of colleges and universities. Several organizations now publish college rankings, each with unique criteria that produces significantly different results for institutions.”
Converse has the highest percentage (87%) of classes under 20 students, the fifth highest rate of alumni giving (22%), and the second highest percentage (97%) of full-time faculty of all first-tier Southern Regional Universities in the rankings.
The Best Value list of “great schools at a great price” is determined by a calculation that takes into account the school’s academic quality and the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of financial aid.
“U.S.News & World Report has consistently placed Converse among the top 5 Best Values in the South and among the top 20 master’s institutions in the South. We stand out in our small class size, our percentage of full-time faculty, and the percentage of alumni who support the college — all factors that speak to the quality of the Converse experience.” said Converse President Betsy Fleming.
This fall, Converse was ranked 3rd in the nation among master’s universities for its “contribution to the public good,” measured through research, service and social mobility, by Washington Monthly. The college was also included among Forbes‘ list of “America’s Top Colleges and Universities.”
“Today, more than ever, our nation is actively grappling with how to assess the value of colleges and universities. Several organizations now publish college rankings, each with unique criteria that produces significantly different results for institutions. Prospective students and their families look to these external validations as one of many factors in their college decision-making process. Converse is very pleased to be top rated by all entities that include us in their rankings,” said Fleming.
