Swimming Ranked Top 25 in the Nation
For the first time in Converse College history, an athletics program is ranked top 25 in the nation. The College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Coaches Poll Committee announced the second Top 25 poll of the 2011-2012 season, which has the Converse swim team ranked as the number 25 team in all of NCAA Division II.
The Valkyries break into the top 25 after spending weeks as an honorable mention team. A selected committee of coaches and representatives of the NCAA swimming landscape from around the nation vote three times before the NCAA DII National Championships to designate the nation’s elite teams.
The Valkyries swim team currently has two individuals with NCAA DII national cuts and three individuals just outside of those standards. Rhiannon Gluhosky (Summerville, SC) and Jenni Russell (Rock Hill, SC) currently have 9 NCAA B cuts between the two swimmers.
Converse takes to the pool again on January 26 when they travel to Gaffney, SC to compete in a quad meet at Limestone College.
