Converse Men’s Soccer Crowned Conference Carolinas Champions
In just their second season, Converse University’s men’s soccer team was crowned the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Champions after defeating Francis Marion 1-0 to capture the program’s first-ever championship title on November 6, 2022.
As the inaugural season for men’s soccer began in the Fall of 2021, Men’s Soccer Head Coach Rob Miller said that he and his team were exhilarated to be writing the first chapter of men’s soccer history at Converse.
The No. 10 Converse team continued on to the first round of the NCAA Super Region II game against No. 7 Wingate on November 12, which ended in a penalty kick shootout as the ‘Dogs edged out the Valkyries 4-3 in PKs.
Converse ended the season 13-1-5, as Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions, Conference Carolinas Tournament Champions and the first team in Converse history to have an NCAA Tournament berth.

In the team’s first season at Converse, Head Coach Rob Miller led the Valkyries to an 8-8-2 regular season record. He led the Valkyries to their first postseason berth in 2021 with a trip to the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament.
Director of Athletics, Jenn Bell, has been optimistic in her expectations of Converse’s first men’s athletic programs and Esports. “First and foremost, we want to provide our student-athletes with a positive, quality experience,” Bell said. “We want them to be successful in the classroom and want them to be great representatives of our school.”
