Converse Selects New Director of Athletic Communications
Converse has selected Will Meyer as the Director of Athletic Communications. Meyer comes to Converse from the University of South Carolina at Upstate, where he spent the last two years as the Associate Athletic Communications Director. While with the Spartans, he was the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s golf.
“Will impressed us right from the start, and we are thrilled he will be joining us later this summer,” stated Jenn Bell, Director of Athletics. “His knowledge and skill set are exactly what our department needs to carry us into the future, and we all look forward to working with him during this exciting time for our institution and Converse Athletics.”
Before joining the University of South Carolina Upstate, Meyer spent one year at Ouachita Baptist University (Arkadelphia, Arkansas). While at Ouachita, he was the main media contact for all 14 athletic programs.
Meyer helped with the relaunch and redesign of obutigers.com and oversaw all aspects of social media for the department. He also oversaw the video production and livestream of all sporting events. During the fall of 2018 Meyer covered the Tigers Great American Conference Championship runs in both Football and Men’s Soccer.
Meyer was the primary media contact for the football team’s run to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals round, and he was the lead statistician for the NCAA Second Round and the Quarterfinals football games.
Prior to his time at Ouachita Baptist, Meyer spent five and a half years at Carson-Newman University (Jefferson City, Tennessee) as both a student worker and as a graduate assistant within the Sports Information Department.
