Golf Team Opens Inaugural Season with Home Invitational

The Converse Golf team has partnered with Founders Credit Union to host the first home tournament of the sport’s inaugural season. The Converse Invite will take place on September 17th at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg.

“We are excited to have this as our second contest of the season,” says head golf coach Sara Anne McGetrick. “This program is new to the Spartanburg area, and we are so excited to have the support of the community and Founders Credit Union.”

The Converse Invite will be a one-day, 18-hole event. Converse will play host to Conference Carolinas rival, Pfeiffer University, and five non-conference teams in Columbia College, Benedict College, Spartanburg Methodist, Southern Wesland, and Mars Hill.

“After months of recruiting, I am excited to have six freshmen on campus ready to compete. We will be playing a very competitive fall and spring schedule, and I look forward to seeing how far our ladies and our program progress this year,” says McGetrick.

The Converse Golf team opens up the season with the Anderson University Invitational, a two-day tournament in Anderson, SC. The purple and gold will see conference play in four of the five fall invitationals that span through October.
