Converse Falls to Anderson
Spartanburg, S.C.— Anderson University swept the doubles round en route to a 7-2 win in CVAC tennis action over Converse College. Converse falls to 1-3 on the season.
The #1 doubles pair of Tina Rohner and Rachel Wilkes fell to Anderson’s Tamra Lawyer and Jessica McDonald 8-1. Converse’s #2 doubles Ive Jardim and Rhett Smodic fell by the same score to the Trojans’ Aline Salvany and Anne Redfern.
Rohner won the #1 singles slot for the All-Stars by defeating Tamra Lawyer 6-3, 6-1. Jessica McDonald took the #2 spot over Converse’s Rachel Wilkes 6-3, 6-2. After dropping the first set, the Trojans’ Redfern won the next two sets to beat Jardim 2-6, 6-1, 10-6. Smodic gave the All-Stars their second win of the afternoon by defeating Salvany 6-2, 2-6, 10-3. The #5 singles match was won by Anderson’s Laura Gorman who beat Lee Cantey 6-0, 6-4.
The All-Stars will take on Lander this Monday at 3:30 pm. The match will be played at Converse College.
