Spartanburg, SC — Coker’s Lotta Aaltonen scored 19 points to lead the Cobras to a 69-57 victory. Strong shooting from the line helped Coker put the game out of reach. The Cobras last nine points all came from the charity stripe. Coker improves to 1-1 on the season while the All-Star fall to 0-4.
After trailing 14-3 early in the game, Converse battled back to get within five points at halftime. The All-Stars pulled within one point late in the game, but foul shots proved to be the difference. Converse shot 39% from the foul line in the second half, while the Cobras shot 80% in the second stanza.
Carla Kantara had a team high 10 points. Brandi Crisitiello and Lauren Mueller each added nine points for the All-Stars. Five Cobras hit double digits, including 4 of the 5 starters. Tara Nelson scored 13 while Temeca Spain added 12. Henna Koponen and Madison Bycroft each had 11 points.
Converse will take the floor again tomorrow as Newberry College travels to Spartanburg. Game time is set for 6 pm.
