Abbey Volleyball Swept By Converse, 3-0
BELMONT, NC (October 18, 2006) – Converse College received a match-high 14 kills from Lauren Mueller as the All-Stars swept the Belmont Abbey volleyball team 3-0 tonight at the Wheeler Center. Game scores were 30-26, 30-10 and 30-22. Converse improves to 17-8 overall and 12-4 in the CVAC, while the Abbey falls to 3-18 overall and 0-16 in the CVAC.
Emily Becher and Sydney Steffen pieced together solid two-way matches, as Becher finished with a team-high eight kills and 15 digs, while Steffen added six kills and 12 digs. Setter Sawyer Coble recorded a double double with 19 assists and 15 digs, and libero Monica Halligan led all players with 21 digs as the Crusaders recorded 69 digs to just 61 for the All-Stars.
Mueller was the only player in the match to reach double figures in kills as the All-Stars hit .205 for the match (43 kills, 16 errors on 132 total attacks) while the Crusaders finished with a -.017 attack (24 kills, 26 errors on 119 total attacks).
The Abbey is back in action Friday night at 6:30 as it travels to Charlotte for a match against Queens University.
