Converse Sweeps Anderson in CVAC Opener
ANDERSON, S.C. — Converse College used decisive runs in all three games to sweep Anderson University 30-25, 30-25, 30-22 in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference match Thursday night at the Abney Center.
Converse, who improves to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC, was led by Melanie Wallace with 15 kills, Sarah Javdan-Inalloo with 14 kills, and Lauren Miller and Monica Wallace with 12 kills apiece.
The All-Stars used a 10-1 run to close out the first game, an 8-2 to take control of the second game, and a 13-6 to end the third game. Sally Crossley had 20 digs to lead the Converse defense, and setter Allison Ralston handed out 23 assists.
Anderson, 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the CVAC, was led by Leanna Willis with 13 kills and 19 digs and Amanda Edwards with nine kills and 21 digs. Anderson setter Jessica Pedrick finished the match with 32 assists and 15 digs.
Converse returns to the court Friday as they play host to Barton College. The scheduled start time for the CVAC match is 7:00 pm. The All-Stars also play at home this weekend when they face Mt. Olive College Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
