Converse Finished 6th at Asics Winthrop Invitational
Rock Hill, SC — The Converse College All-Stars finished in a tie for 6th place in the Garnett Division (non-division I institutions). The All-Stars 6th place finish was shared with Newberry College. Betsy Ruppert, Mary Cloonan, and Sarah Powell all finished in the top 11 spots.
Ruppert finished the 5k course in 21:16. The sophomore garnered a 5th place spot with that time. Cloonan completed the race 15 seconds later, giving her a 7th place finish. Powell was the next All-Star to finish, crossing the line at 21:57. She earned a 11th place finish. The trio of Ruppert, Cloonan, and Powell were also the 3 highest finishers of the CVAC runners.
As a team, Converse finished ahead of Belmont-Abbey, 9th place, and Limestone College, 10th place, of the CVAC.
The last two runners for Converse College were Morgan Osburn and Jennifer Brown. Osburn finished in 65th place while Brown scored for the All-Stars in 70th place.
This was the first race the All-Stars competed in under the coaching of Susan Rogers, who will coach the remainder of the season.
The top five had Lander University winning the race, with Presbyterian taking second. USC-Aiken, Spartanburg Methodist, and Warren Wilson would round out the top 5 in that order. Converse and Newberry College tied for 6th place. The All-Stars and Indians finished ahead of Benedict, Belmont-Abbey, and Limestone College who finished 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively.
