Spartanburg, SC — Lander University defeated Converse College 3-1 (30-15, 20-30, 30-23, 30-26). With the win, the Bearcats improve to 15-6 on the season, while the All-Stars fall to 11-6.
Lander would win game 1 in dominating fashion. However, Converse would respond in game 2 and tie the match at a game each. After falling behind 21-20 in game 3, Lander would go on a 10-2 run to close out the game and take a 2-1 lead into the fourth game.
In game 4, Converse would jump out to a 6-2 lead. However, the Bearcats would fight back and tie the game at 11. The All-Stars would regain the lead at 19-13 and were seemingly poised to force a fifth game. Lander would chip away at the deficit and get within one point at 19-18. Not ready to concede the match, the All-Stars pulled back out to a 22-18 lead. However, the Bearcats would go on a run 8 point run to take a 26-22 lead and ultimately win game 4 and the match.
The All-Stars will resume CVAC play this Friday as they travel to Queens College. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start. Lander will travel to Augusta State for a Peach Belt showdown.
