Spartanburg, SC — The Converse College basketball team will host the All-Stars Independent Classic announced Coach Brett Phillips. The All-Stars Independent Classic will take place on February 23 and 24, 2007 at the Tom and Tracy Hannah Gym on the campus of Converse College.
The six-team tournament will feature North Greeneville University, Chowan University, Brevard College, Columbia Union College, Claflin University, and Converse College. Converse, which will be competing in its second season under the tutelage of Coach Phillips, will play in the night cap both days. The All-Stars will take on the Panthers of Claflin University on Friday night and the Columbia Union Pioneers, who finished last season with a 4-23 record, on Saturday evening.
‘I am very pleased that we are able to host a tournament that will bring some quality independent schools from around the east coast together,” said Coach Phillips. “It should be a great tournament filled with a lot of excitement.”
The opening game of the All-Stars Independent Classic will have North Greenville taking on Chowan. North Greenville finished in 7th at the 2006 NCCAA National Tournament.
