All-Stars back on the road
Spartanburg, SC – Coach Phillips and the Converse Basketball team head to West Virginia for a pair of games this weekend where they will face their opponents from the Converse All-Star Tournament.
On Saturday the All-Stars face Ohio Valley College in Vienna, West Virginia with tip-off set for 2 pm. Converse faced Ohio Valley on December 2nd and after a back and forth first half, eventually fell 73-93. That night the All-Stars were led in scoring by Carla Kantara (London, England) who had a season-high 22 points.
The next day they will make the short trip to Institute, WV for a rematch with West Virginia State University with another 2 pm tip-off. In the first meeting, the All-Stars let a great first half slip away and lost the game 92-71 with Kantara again leading the way with 20 strong points.
The All-Stars are currently 1-9 on the season with Kantara leading the scorers with 11.2 points per game followed by Lauren Mueller (Foley, AL) at 9.6 and freshman Sydney Brown (Myrtle Beach, SC) with 7.9 ppg. Kantara also leads rebounding with 8.6 rebounds per game while Mueller has 11 blocks on the season.
The All-Stars will take a break for Christmas before returning to action at the USC-Upstate Tournament on December 29-30.
