Converse Volleyball successful at CVAC Tournament
Laurinburg, NC – The Converse Volleyball team finished their inaugural season in the CVAC Conference with a semi-final appearance, several post-season awards and a highly successful record of 22-15.
The All-Stars began the CVAC Tournament seeded 4th and knocked off the 5th seed Belmont Abbey in four sets 3-1 (30-24, 24-30, 30-26 and 30-23) to advance to the semi-final against NCAA bound Mount Olive. The All-Stars would rally from one set down to tie the match up but would eventually succumb in four sets and end their highly respected first season in the CVAC Conference.
Awards: At the CVAC Conference banquet held Friday in Laurinburg, two Converse players and Head Coach Bill Rude were honored for their season accomplishments. Senior Leslie Shain (Joliet, IL) and Junior Lauren Mueller (Foley, AL) were named CVAC Honorable Mention while Coach Bill Rude was named as the CVAC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.
