Converse falls to unbeaten Barton College
Wilson, NC – Converse pushed CVAC undefeated Barton last Friday afternoon with a gutsy performance only to come out on the losing end of a 1-0 scoreline. Converse came out slowly in the first half and was given problems down the left side by Barton’s 2 all-conference forwards who created chances that were thwarted by the brilliance of Brandi Criscitiello (Maysville, NC) in goal.
The second half would prove to be a different story as Converse came out and dominated Barton both physically and in possession only to miss the few clear-cut chances that came their way. Converse would be made to rue their missed opportunities when 12 minutes from the end Barton would score on a defensive mix-up between two players that allowed Tara Davis to score her 11th goal of the year and continue their unbeaten conference streak.
The fine defending of Sarah Schiff (York, PA) and Meredith Montroy (Pittsburgh, PA) kept Converse in the game for 90 minutes and Mallory Begley (Summerville, SC) had her best game yet as an All-Star.
Converse returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Brevard, NC to face Brevard College at 4pm
