All-Stars knock Mount Olive from the ranks of the unbeaten
Spartanburg, SC – The Converse All-Stars rallied from two sets down to topple the previously unbeaten in conference Mount Olive Trojans in the Hannah Gymnasium this afternoon. After being dominated in the first two sets by the power hitting of Mount Olive, the All-Stars fought back in the third and fourth sets to force a game five where their defense would carry them to victory.
For Converse, Leslie Shain (Joliet, IL) was the offensive power with 19 kills and an impressive 34 digs to lead the team along with Brittany Ogez (Tulsa, OK) and her 42 assists for the All-Stars. Mount Olive was led by their NCAA ranked hitter Heidi Busch (Ft. Wayne, IN) who pounded 22 kills and the defensive presence of Nikki Murphy (Marshfield, WI) who contributed 34 digs for the Trojans in the losing effort.
With the win Converse improves to 14-11 (7-6 CVAC) while their first conference loss dropped Mount Olive to 15-4 (10-1 CVAC) ahead of traveling to Pennsylvania to play in the Lock Haven Classic this coming weekend.
Converse returns to action Saturday as they play host Limestone and Tusculum in a triangular match beginning at 11am in Gaffney, SC.
