All-Stars finish season with loss to Erskine
Due West, SC – The All-Stars finished their season with a tough 5-0 loss at the hands of Erskine College Thursday night. The All-Stars needed either a win or a tie to guarantee themselves a place in the Top 8 CVAC Tournament as they were tied for Coker for 8th place with 3 Conference wins but had lost the nead-to-head meeting earlier in the season.
The All-Stars started quickly and went close early through Sam Chapman (Spartanburg, SC) and Brittnay Moreno (Seneca, SC) but would be left to rue their missed opportunities as three defensive mistakes saw Converse go into the half down 3-0.
The All-Stars made adjustments with a need for goals and would go close twice in the first five minutes but the lack of firepower that has hurt Converse all season reared its ugly head and would effectively seal the fate of the All-Stars. Erskine would add two late goals to end the first CVAC season for the All-Stars being tied for 8th place in the 12 team conference.
The final record of 4-13-1 includes three CVAC wins over St. Andrews, Anderson and Queens in a season where Converse was picked to finish last in the conference in the Preseason coaches poll with 11 coaches placing Converse 12th out of 12 teams.
