Cross Country finishes well in strong field

Wingate, NC – The Converse Cross Country team took another step towards the CVAC Conference meet with a 7th place finish out of 17 teams at the Wingate Invitational Saturday.

The All-Stars were led by freshman Betsy Ruppert (Wapakineta, OH)who is establishing herself as one of the CVAC eltie with a time of 25:58 for the 6K race. In only her third collegiate race, Ruppert was the 6th placed CVAC runner and looks to have an accomplished athletic career at Converse as she will take the court for the basketball team when their season begins.

The All-Stars had three other top 50 runners with Sarah Powell (Enoree, SC) 43rd, Mary Cloonan (Spartanburg, SC) 45th and Megan Pearce (Elizabethton, TN) 49th rounding out the top 4 for Converse.

The All-Stars head to Charleston, SC next weekend as they compete in the Citadel Invitational at 9:45am on Saturday.
