Converse finishes second

Brevard, NC – The Converse Cross Country were led by three Top 10 finishers on their way to a second place finish at the Brevard Invitational over the weekend. With Converse gradually returning runners from pre-season injuries, the All-Stars are nearing full strength as they move into the heart of their season.

Leading the way for the All-Stars was freshmen Sarah Powell (Enoree, SC) who finished 6th with a time of 21:11 and was closely followed in 8th place by another freshmen Betsy Ruppert (Wapakineta, OH) at 21:22. The third of Converse’s Top 10 finishers was Megan Pearce (Elizabethton, TN) who came in 10th with a time of 21:26.

The All-Stars return to action this coming Saturday as they face a stiff test of a longer distance and more experienced field as they race at the Wingate Invitational of the campus of Wingate University, NC. The race begins at 9:30am on Saturday, September 17th.
