Converse begins season with 8th place finish at Eye-Opener Invitational

Spartanburg, SC – The Converse Cross Country team began their season with an impressive 8th place finish out of 24 teams at the Eye-Opener Invitational held Saturday in Spartanburg, SC.

The All-Stars had three runners place in the top 35 with Megan Pearce (Elizabethton, TN) 22nd at 20:50, Betsy Rupert (Wapakineta, OH) 31st at 21:20 and Sarah Powell (Enoree, SC) 32nd at 24:13.

The All-Stars placed second only to Anderson College of the CVAC teams competing and with Converse still missing three top runners through injury, the ultimate goal of a CVAC Championship remains attainable for the 2005 season.

The All-Stars compete next weekend at the Brevard Invitational in Brevard, NC with the race beginning at 10:30am, September 10th.
