Converse Basketball Signs Three New Players
The All-Star basketball team has signed three new players to it’s roster for the 2005-2006 season.
Ruth Byrd has attended East Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, KY. She holds the following record in her career:Most 3’s in a game (6); Most rebounds in a career (870; top fifteen in the state for rebounds per game in both her junior and senior year; Most blocked shots in a game (11), in a season (118) and in a career (398) – which is also a state top ten record; Most double-doubles in a career (23); Most triple-doubles: she is the only player in school history to get a triple double, and has had 3 in her career. She averaged 7.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in my career, averaging a double-double her junior and senior years (11.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 10.0 points, 11.4 rebounds respectively). She averaged 4 blocked shots per game in my career. Ruth also received the Jessamine County Female Underclass Athlete Award in 2002-03. She was a member of the All Tournament Team at the Wendy’s Lady Lakers Holiday Classic in 2003; a member of the 42nd District All Tournament Team in 2004-05; and was also named the Team MVP in 2004-05.
Alyson Kielar was a member of the All Conference Team, First-Charter Holiday Classic All Tournament Team, Lincoln Times News All Tournament Team. She also received the following honors: MVP, Scholar Athlete, Presidential Award, National Honor Society, High Honor Roll. Her stats include averaging 15.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 2.25 assists per game, 1.8 steals per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.
Betsy Rupert of Wapakoneta High School has been a member of the cross country team, the track team, and the basketball team for the past four years. She has averaged 8.1 ppg and 7.3 rebounds per game. She has been a member of the District 8 All-Star Team, and has received honorable mention in the Western Bucayee League for basketball.
