Converse Rolls Past Lenoir-Rhyne
The Converse College All-Star tennis team rolled past Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday 9-0.
In doubles, Tina Rohner and Danielle Beck paired at number 1 for a win over Amy Westmoreland and Kindra Filson, 8-6. At number two, Ive Jardim and Jenny Kile defeated McCall Sink and Mary Alice Parker 8-3. Andrea Weatherman and Virginia Jones beat Ellen Key and Jade McCormick 8-6 at the number three spot.
In singles action, Tina Rohner defeated Amy Westmoreland 6-1, 6-3, while Ive Jardim got a win over Kindra Filson 6-4, 6-0. Danielle Beck got her first win of the season, beating McCall Sink 7-6 (10-8), 6-1. At number four, Jenny Kile triumphed over Mary Alice Parker 6-0, 6-0, while Andrea Weatherman fought back in the second set to win 6-3, 7-5 over Ellen Key. At number six, Virginia Jones rallied late to take the win over Jade McCormick 7-3, 6-4.
The All-Stars, now 5-5, will host Wingate on Monday at 3:30pm.
