Converse Rolls Past Erskine, 63-55
It was all Converse on Tuesday night as the All Stars played host to the Erskine College Flying Fleet. The All Stars won the match up 63-55.
The All Stars left little doubt they would pick up the win as the quintet trailed only twice in the game, and both times were early in the first half and only by 1 and 2 points. Erskine came out of the gates cold and the All Stars capitalized taking a 12-10 lead on a jumper by senior center Melissa Bunce with 12:11 to go in the opening frame. Converse never looked back.
Converse shot 38 percent on the half going 11-28 on field goals and 3-8 on three point shots. The Fleet rallied to keep the game within three but Converse took off when senior guard Melissa Ballard hit her second three pointer of the half to lead 22-16. The All Stars rolled on to a 32-23 lead at the half. The Fleet cut the margin to six at one point in the second half, but could get no close the rest of the way.
The All Stars were led by senior guard Melissa Ballard who had 15 points hitting 3 three pointers. Senior center Melissa Bunce who had 14 points and 5 rebounds. Freshman guard Sarah Watson also contributed 11 points in the victory.
The Fleet were led by Anita Owens who had 18 points and 5 boards while Melissa Woods contributed 17 points. Erskine shot only 30 percent from the field and committed 14 turnovers.
Converse returns to action on Wednesday December 1st when they travel to take on Belmont Abbey College.
