Converse Falls to Carson Newman, 76-51
The All-Stars suffered another loss on Friday, this one coming from the Carson Newman Lady Eagles. Carson Newman outshot Converse 43 to 37 percent. Lady Eagle Brittaney Gooch shot the only three point shot of the entire game.
The All-Stars looked good coming out of the gate, but the Eagles soon went on an eight point run to go up 11-4 early in the first half. The All-Stars battled hard but just couldn’t put anything together and shot only 38 percent from the field. They were 0-7 from three point range and ended te half, down by 14.
The second half was no different as Carson Newman rolled to a 76-51 victory, shooting 39 percent from the field, and 55 percent from the charity stripe. Turnovers seemed to be a major contributing factor as the Eagles had 15 while Converse committed 24.
Converse was lead by sophomore Lauren Mueller with 20 points and four boards. No other All-Star had double digits as Melissa Bunce had only eight points and eight rebounds. The Eagles had a strong standing as Brooke Johnson had 17 points, while Kala Greene had 13.
Converse, now 2-7, will play host to Newberry College on Tuesday December 7th at 7pm.
