CONVERSE GETS 1ST WIN OF SEASON
It was an emotional night for the All Stars who captured their first win of the season beating Limestone College 88-72.
The All Stars took the lead at 10-8 in the first half and went on a 9-0 run to lead 19-8 before the Saints scored again. The Saints battled back to keep the game close until they took the lead off of a field goal by Tiffany Jones to go up 25-23. But the All Stars scored four 3pt shots in the final minutes to end the half tied 36-36.
Despite the first few minutes being close with the score being tied six times in the first 10 minutes, the All Star took command and never looked back. Converse rolled to an 88-72 victory, scoring 18 points to Limestone’s 12 in the last four minutes of the half.
Leading the All Stars in points was Lauren Mueller with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Melissa Ballard with 17 points. Tiffany Jones led the Saints with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Converse shot 39.4% from the field while Limestone was at 33.3%.
Head Coach Beth Coil stated, “A basketball game is full of ups and downs. Tonight we had more ups than downs.”
“We played as a team tonight…an all around effort from the bench helped to spark the win.” said Assistant Coach Christina Volpe. Converse moves to 1-4 on the season and will travel to USC-Upstate on Saturday November 27th.
