All Stars Lose Season Opener to Anderson
The Converse All Stars fell 86-60 in their season opener against Anderson College on Monday night.
The first half was tight before Anderson went on run in the last 5 minutes of the half, scoring 18 points to Converse’s 8 to end the half at 33-48 in favor of Anderson. In the second half, the ladies of AC just couldn’t be stopped as they rolled on to win the game. Despite out-shooting the Trojans in field goal percentages, free throws were a deciding factor with Anderson shooting 73% to the All Star’s 48%. Converse senior Melissa Ballard was 7 of 13 on field goals and 4 of 7 on 3-pt. shots for 18 points on the night. Leading the Trojans was Deanna Thompson for 22 points and LaShonda Chiles with 21 points.
The All Stars are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Coker College at 7pm.
