All-Stars Fall To Bobcats
Converse College was defeated by Lees McRae for the second time this season. The first meeting which was held in Williams Gym in Banner Elk, North Carolina on December 13 was played despite icy weather conditions. The Bobcats defeated the All-Stars 89-78 and the second match-up ended in much the same manner with a score of 79-61.
The All-Stars as a whole were off this game only shooting 32.1% in the first half, 36.7% in the second half and 34.5% for the game. Early in the game it appeared as if the All-Stars might break through. Unfortunately, a lapse in defense, turnovers and poor shooting percentage changed the flow of the game and they never were able to recover. In addition, the Bobcats were able to gain confidence with their aggressive defensive play and managed to shoot 60% in the second half, hitting 18-of 30 from the field. They also hit eight 8 three-pointers during the game.

Unfortunately, a lapse in defense, turnovers and poor shooting percentage changed the flow of the game and they never were able to recover.In addition, the Bobcats were able to gain confidence with their aggressive defensive play and managed to shoot Once again Melissa Bunce led the All-Stars. It was her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She was 6-of 12 from the field shooting 50% and 4-of 5 from the free-throw line shooting 80%. She also led the All-Stars with three assists.
Lindsey Pope of Lees McRae came off the bench and led both squads with 21 points.
The All-Stars travel to Tigerville, South Carolina on Saturday, January 17 to take on North Greenville College. The All-Stars will return home on Saturday, January 24 to host Coker College for the first time this year.
