Converse Shoots 41.9% But Falls To Anderson 76 to 65
Anderson started out strong and hung on to an 11 point lead for the win. The All-Stars pulled it as close as nine points down the stretch, but could not overcome the deficit. Free throws could have been the difference for the All-Stars. Converse was (9-of 15) shooting only 60% while Anderson was almost perfect hitting (17-of 19) shooting 89.5% from the free throw line.
Melissa Bunce and Lauren Mueller had their second double double of the season. Bunce had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Mueller had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bunce also had four assists, while Mueller led the team shooting 69.2%.
From behind the arc Anderson was hot early on, but ended the game shooting (7-of 15) and 46.7%. Converse on shot (4-of 18) shooting only 22.2%.
This was our best loss of the season, if that makes any sense. I really felt that we put a lot of things together and that everyone played with heart and intensity. I was very proud of our effort, especially against Anderson who was ranked second in the CVAC pre-season poll.
The All-Stars will be taking on Belmont Abbey on Tuesday night at 7:00PM in Weisiger Center.
