Converse Loses Last Game in 2003
Berry College defeated Converse College 86-58 on Wednesday night in Spartanburg, South Carolina in Weisiger Center. Converse kept it close in the first half and was only down 21-20 with 7:48 left but after a let down on the defensive side they went into the half trailing 44-35.
In the last few games, the All-Stars have not been able to keep the intensity up throughout the second half and this game was another example of that. The All-Stars shot 46.4% in the first half and 25.8% in the second. They were 3 for 5 from the three point line and 0 for 7 in the second half.
Coach Coil felt that maybe three games in five days right after finals was too much for the girls, but she does believe in making excuses. She said that the girls were thinking about Christmas break and they played that way. “Hopefully we can come back from this break and get a win in the new year,” states Coach Beth Coil.
Lauren Mueller and Melissa Bunce led the All-Stars with 19 points and 14 points respectively.
Deanna Duncan (Berry) led both teams with 23 points and perfect behind the free throw line.
