Cross Country team places 12th at NCAA Regionals
The All-Stars finished 12th out of 22 teams this weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina at the team’s first NCAA Regionals. The course and weather presented a challenge, but the All-Stars seemed to improve in all aspects. This was only the team’s 2nd 6k competition for the season. This was her first, first place finish for the team this season.
Sophomore Samantha Greenridge finished first for the All-Stars and 48th overall with a time of 26:22, and an average of 7:05 per mile.
Freshman Mary Cloonan finished second for the All-Stars and 52nd overall with a time of 26:46, and an average of 7:11 per mile.
Sophomore Megan Pearce finished third for the All-Stars and 54th overall with a time of 26:50, and an average of 7:12 per mile.
Freshman Hayley Crowe finished fourth for the All-Stars and 80th overall with a time of 28:11, and an average of 7:34 per mile.
Junior Regina Davis finished fifth for the All-Stars and 93th overall with a time of 29:30, and an average of 7:55 per mile.
Junior Katie McCaskill finished sixth for the All-Stars and 101st overall with a time of 30:07, and an average of 8:05 per mile.
Freshman Jennifer Mack finished seventh for the All-Stars and 109th overall with a time of 33:38, and an average of 9:02 per mile.
The total average for the team was 27:31 while the total time for the team was 2:15:31. They finished 12th with 391 points. They improved since the USCS meet, which was held at the Milliken course on October 4th. The SAS course itself, which is where they ran this Saturday was much more difficult, especially since it was misting and muddy the entire competition. They cut the team average by 49 seconds and the team time by 6 minutes and 11 seconds. The spread between 1 and 5 was 3:08 this Saturday, where it was 4:10 at the USCS meet back on October 4th. Coach Tarpinian was very impressed with her girls. She said, “Its a great way to cap off the season, because they all ran really well. They gave 100% effort on a really hard course full of mud from the constant drizzling rain. I am very proud of all the girls. I knew Samantha was due for a breakthrough race and this was it.”
Congratulations to the All-Stars for a great season!
