Soccer Defends Home Field
The Converse College Woman’s Soccer Team had a great first half to hold on to a 3-1 win over Southern Wesleyan University. The first goal of the game came at the 25:18 mark when Kristin Stankus played it out wide to Kim Brady. Kim Brady in turn played a beautiful ball back post where Rachel Sherman headed the ball in for the first goal of the game. Southern Wesleyan University scored less than a minute later from a stellar performance by CJ Soto. With 16:14 left in the first half Kristin Stankus played a perfect ball over the back line where Rachel Sherman finished the ball for her second goal of the game. With 11:00 left on the clock, Allison Dalbec took on a few defenders and hit the ball from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season.
The second half was not as good as the first for the Converse All Stars, but Converse held onto the win. “I was proud of how the girls played in the first half, but we have yet to see the girls play an entire 90 minutes,” says Coach Shannon Rossley.
