Converse Rolls Past Mt. Olive
Samoria Roundtree breaks a new school record by scoring four goals in one game. The first goal was scored in the first five minutes by Samoria Roundtree. Mt. Olive was on the attack when Amber Boyer won the ball and cleared it up the field. Samoria won the ball in the air and brought it down slotting it past the goalie. This was Samoria’s first goal of the year. The second goal was scored with 23:37 left in the first half. Rachel Sherman took a shot and the goalie made a diving save but it deflected off of her hands back to Rachel. Rachel in turn played it across the six-yard box where Samoria was to finish the ball for the second of the game. The third and fourth goal of the game came with 18:05 and 15:35 left in the first half. Both goals were set up by midfielder Kristin Stankus and finished by Samoria Roundtree for her third and fourth goals of the game.
The second half Converse started a little slow, but picked up their momentum. Mt. Olive scored with 33:37 left in the game on a free kick by Barbara Dubois. Two minutes later, Allison Dalbec scored on an assist by Rachel Sherman. This Was Allison’s first goal of the game and second of the season. With 23:11 left Christine McMakin scored a beautiful goal on an assist by Brandy Barksdale. This was Christine’s second goal of the season. Converse never gave up and scored with five seconds remaining. Kim Brady was taking the ball down the line and crossed it into the six-yard box, where Allison Dalbec was there to finish the ball for her second goal of the game. Coach Rossley stated after the game, “This three game winning streak will help the teams’s confidence going into Anderson College on Friday. We are proud of the girls and the way they have come together as a team.” “We are playing our best soccer, and it is fun to watch these girls play soccer and enjoy it,” says Coach Clowney.
