All-Stars Fall To The Lady Bears In The Last 4 Minutes
Despite Kim Brady goal in the 65th minute to tie the game at 1-1, the All-Stars could not hold off the Bears offensive pressure. In the first half the play was controlled by both teams, but the Bears were the ones to capitalize first. In the 38th minute Sarah Burnett (Lander) scored unassisted from outside the 18 yard box into the left corner of the goal. This was the first and only goal of the first half. In the first half, Lander outshot Converse 5-2. Both teams had their opportunities but only Lander capitalized.
In the second half, Converse had many chances and finally capitalized on one of them. In the 65th minute the ball was played to Allison Dalbec in the middle of the field. Kim Brady was making a run down the right flank where Allison Dalbec found her feet. Kim took the ball with speed up the sideline and beat the goalie near post for her second goal of the season. The play continued to go back and forth until the 85th minute when Erin Hesse (Lander) lofted the ball over Jessica Simmons from 20 yards out. This resulted in the winning goal for Lander. However, Converse was playing very offensively attempting to tie the game, but Lander scored again in the 87th minute by an unassisted goal by Ashley Timmerman. This was the last and final goal of the game. The game ended at 3-1.
“We finally played up to our full potential, we looked better than we looked all year, it was a great game,” says Coach Rossley.
Converse will play their last game of the season at Presbyterian College on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00pm.
