Converse Presents the 2026-2027 Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series
Converse University is celebrating its 45th season of the Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series.
This series of concerts features world-renowned musicians in the intimate venue of Daniel Recital Hall. Most performances are followed by a post-concert champagne and hors d’oeuvres reception, where you can meet and talk with the performers.
In 1983, Carlos DuPré Moseley founded the “Friends of the School of Music Chamber Music Series,” bringing internationally renowned musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma and Marilyn Horne, to Converse University. Moseley’s expertise in the music business attracted top performers to Converse, while keeping ticket costs low for guests.

Carlos Moseley Series – PACIFICA QUARTET

Moseley Next: April Sings, Conrad Swings

April Varner brings passion and panache to the gems of the jazz songbook. Her swinging partner is the Australian-born jazz pianist Konrad Pazsudski, about whom no less of a jazz authority than Wynton Marsalis raves. “He has a pearly touch, a sense of history, a sense of drama, a love of the blues, and a sense of elegance that is born of high minded dedication.”

MoseleyNext: Sputter Box

Sputter Box offers a performance experience that simply has to be seen to be believed. A New York-based trio of voice, clarinet, and percussion, the ensemble’s performances are imaginatively choreographed, surprising, inventive, virtuosic, and always pure fun. Everything they play is written expressly for them and highlights their commitment to do anything BUT stand still reading music off of stands! Both viscerally exciting and playful, Sputter Box uses every bit of the stage to thrill and entertain audiences of all ages.

Carlos Moseley Series: Chanticleer

The celebrated “orchestra of voices” Chanticleer returns to the Carlos Moseley Series for the fourth time! The multiple-GRAMMY Award winners are celebrated worldwide for both the lush beauty of their sound and their astonishing ability to flawlessly balance and tune 12-voice chords without a conductor. Moseley audiences love their wide-ranging repertoire and seamless presentation just as passionately.
This “Dress Up for Dicksie” evening, which honors the Moseley Series co-founder Dicksie Cribb, will surely be among the most special and memorable events of 2027! A reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres follows the concert.

Carlos Moseley Series: Ruckus

Ruckus is what is known as a period-instrument ensemble, which is to say that they play music written in the 1600s and 1700s on instruments just like the ones Bach and Handel were writing for, not their modern equivalents. But according to The Strad, Ruckus “…retool[s] the very concept of a Baroque continuo, transforming it from a mere harmonic foundation into a groovy, driving force of texture, rhythm, and improvisation.” In other words, the ensemble plays Baroque music with the fire and spirit of bebop.

Carlos Moseley Series: Trio Karénine

Founded in Paris in 2009, Trio Karénine has become one of France’s most celebrated ensembles, and in this event we celebrate the beauty and refinement of French culture. “There’s an effervescence and lightness,” raves Gramophone, “that underpins their approach. (Not for nothing are they named after Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, ‘for the life force she represents.’) … most impressive.”
This program, which the trio calls “Watercolors,” features music by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel inspired by the beauty of the ocean.
