Converse Announces 2020 Commencement, Summer Sessions, and Fall Term Updates
Converse College has announced updates to the 2020 Commencement, summer sessions, and Fall term.
Commencement
Converse invites the community to join them in celebrating their seniors as they host their virtual Baccalaureate service at 5 pm EST on Friday, May 15, 2020 and virtual Commencement ceremony at 9:30 am EST on Saturday, May 16, 2020. The links to the ceremonies will be posted on www.converse.edu/commencement at those times. Senior celebration pages are also accessible from here and congratulate the accomplishments of the Converse undergraduate and graduate class of 2020.
The in-person Commencement ceremony originally scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Zimmerli Performance Center’s Twichell Auditorium has been moved to Saturday, August 1, 2020. This date change will allow for more graduates and their families to participate.
Summer sessions
The Summer 1A (June 1-29) classes at Converse have all moved to online. Summer 1B (June 1-July 24) classes were already scheduled as online formats. Converse is tentatively planning for Summer 2 (July 2-31) and 3 (July 6-August 11) to be on campus if a course was scheduled that way. At this point, Converse administrators plan to confirm the status of Summer 2 and 3 on campus by June 8, 2020.
Fall term
Converse’s plan for fall 2020 is to return to campus and resume a face-to-face learning environment, unless the COVID-19 conditions worsen and/or government guidance requires the continuation of remote learning. Converse administrators and Board of Trustees will constantly evaluate this situation and the COVID-19 projections and provide updates as they make these decisions, always placing the safety and health of the Converse community first. Administrators plan to confirm the status of the fall term by July 15, 2020.
