Converse Opera Theatre will present two delightful one-act operas Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 22 at 2:30 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on the Converse College campus.
Based on the children’s story by James Thurber, Celius Dougherty’s Many Moons tells the tale of Princess Lenore, who becomes ill and desires only one thing to be well again: the moon. Who in the kingdom…the Royal Chamberlain, the Royal Wizard, the Royal Mathematician…can retrieve it for her? Gian-Carlo Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief features Miss Todd (the Old Maid), her eavesdropping housemaid Laetitia, Miss Todd’s gossipy neighbor Miss Pinkerton, and Bob, the befuddled wanderer and alleged thief. Hilarity ensues as the assumptions accumulate. Admission is $15 for adults; children and students with ID will be admitted free of charge. For ticket information, contact the Twichell Box Office, (864) 596-9725.
