By Ashleigh Nix ’10
The Converse Chorale and Chamber Singers will be performing in concert on Saturday, October 18, at 3:00 pm in Daniel Recital Hall as a part of the Converse College Fine Arts Series. The Converse Chorale is an all female chorus group that performs several times throughout the year; the Chamber Singers is Converse’s highly selective touring choral ensemble.
Each group will be performing several different styles of music.
"I hope will demonstrate their understanding of the different styles and periods of music they will be performing; and I hope they will see the benefit of the weeks of preparation leading to this concert,” said Keith Jones, Associate Professor of Voice and conductor of Converse Chorale.
The Chorale concert will feature three different accompanists. Bianca Montanez, a freshman from the Philippines, and Natasha Senanayake, a freshman from Sri Lanka will be the piano accompanists. Along with Montanez and Senanayake, Audrey Rose, Converse II student from Brentwood, Tennessee will be an accompanist on the organ. In addition, Stefanie Maldonado, a freshman from Lebanon, Tennessee will be a vocal soloist in one piece.
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Petrie School of Music at (864) 596-9021.
