Corey Smith to Headline Conniestock 2008
Corey Smith, one of the most in-demand singer/songwriters around, will headline Conniestock 2008 Thursday, April 24, at 8 pm on the Converse back lawn. Michael Warren and Florez will also perform.
Ticket prices are $10 for college students; $15 general admission and all "day of show tickets." To purchase tickets, call the Twichell Box Office at (864) 596-9725. Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted.
Smith got his start right out of high school playing mostly cover songs around his hometown of Jefferson, Georgia. He went to college and began to teach high school social studies until realizing that his true passion was music. He continued to write songs about everyday life as he married and had two sons, and tested out his own songs on his high school students on Friday afternoons.
Smith’s big break occurred when he entered a songwriting contest and won the chance to record his own album, Undertones, which paved the way for him to launch his music career. He has spread his music and influence with the help of websites such as MySpace to broaden his fan base. His songs are written from his own experience and relate to a much larger crowd. “It’s about learning from my mistakes, growing up and becoming an adult,” says Smith.
