Mitchell-Rogers is a professor of art and currently serves as chairperson of the Art Department at Anderson University. A sabbatical during the spring semester of 2006 sparked her “interest in the notion of the iconography of the ordinary.” Mitchell-Rogers hopes to “transform seemingly common or everyday moments that might otherwise be overlooked.” Each painting shows an intimate image derived from original photographs. All of her paintings are acrylic on masonite panel and measure 6”x 6”. Mitchell-Rogers is also a member of the ArtBomb Company in Greenville, SC, a non-profit organization that provides studio and gallery space for working artists in the upstate area.
