223 Graduate Degrees Conferred

Inez Tenenbaum, State Superintendent of Education for South Carolina, was the guest speaker for graduate commencement exercises July 30. In total, 223 graduate degrees were presented: 98 Master’s of Education, 88 Master’s of Arts in Teaching, 34 Education Specialist, and three Master’s of Liberal Arts.

In her address titled “Dare to Dream,” Tenenbaum commended the graduates for their achievements before encouraging them to go further. “Your experiences at Converse have prepared you to think on your feet, to ask important questions, to solve unanticipated problems, and to work with others for the common good,” she said. “Many of you have combined work in your academic specialties with advanced courses in professional education. Converse has allowed many of you to design your own plans of study. As you enter into the future, dream big, and try new things. ‘The impossible is often the untried.’ The future belongs to you and your peers. You are the architects of tomorrow.”
