Converse Confers 240 Graduate Degrees
Converse College conferred 240 graduate degrees during summer commencement exercises July 26 in Twichell Auditorium. Degrees presented include master of education, master of arts in teaching, master of liberal arts, master of music, and educational specialist degrees.
The commencement address was given by Dr. Ron Partin, who offers professional development for educators. He has presented over 400 workshops, retreats, and professional seminars on effective use of school time, creative problem solving, team building, planning and goal setting, helping skills, classroom management, and stress management to schools, hospitals, social service agencies, and businesses. Dr. Partin is also author of five books including The Social Studies Teachers Book of Lists, The Classroom Teacher’s Survival Guide, The Prentice Hall Directory of Online Social Studies Resources, The Social Studies Teachers’ Survival Kit, and P.R.I.D.E, a nationally distributed course on teacher improvement and classroom management. Additionally, he is the editor of the Heart of Teaching, a nationally distributed newsletter for teachers.
He has been honored by professional counseling and teaching organization for exemplary leadership and distinguished service to both fields.
