Author Melanie Rae Thon to Give Guest Reading at Converse
On Wednesday, April 17, author Melanie Rae Thon will give a guest reading in the Cleveland Hall Alumnae House at Converse College. The reading begins at 7:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
Ms. Thon is the author of two novels, Iona Moon and Meteors in August, as well as story collections Sweet Hearts, Girl in the Grass and First Body. Her short stories have appeared in The Best American Short Stories and in the finest small magazines, including the Paris Review, Story, and Granta. She won the Whiting Award in 1997.
Ms. Thon, originally from Montana, now divides her time between the Pacific Northwest and Salt Lake City, where she teaches at the University of Utah.
Each year, the Converse English Department’s Creative Writing program invites several writers to campus to give readings and meet informally with writing and literature students.
