Brevard Defeats Converse
Spartanburg, S.C.— The Brevard College women’s basketball team (3-14) came out victorious on the road Saturday against Converse College 54-48. It was a tale of two halves for the Tornados as they shot only 10% from 3 point range in the first half then got the hot hand in the second shooting 50% (4-8). Brevard College was lead by Junior Holly Krogman (Hickory, NC) with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Head Coach Bill Wilson stated that, “Holly did a great job finishing when she had an opportunity around the basket to score especially in the last five minutes of the game”. It was back in forth until the last two minutes where the Tornados pulled up by 6 and Converse couldn’t seem to catch back up. Leading the way for the All-stars was Carla Kantara with 13 points and Kathlyn McClain with 11 points. Wilson added, “I thought we played a very disciplined game, both offensively and defensively and hit some big free throws down the stretch.”
The Tornados face Milligan College away Thursday in a double header with the men Tip-off starts at 6:00 PM and the game will be broadcasted live on WSQL 1240 AM and on the world wide web at www.wsqlradio.com.
