Singer/songwriter Daryle Ryce will present her 11th annual scholarship fundraiser concert at 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 15 in Hazel B. Abbott Theatre in Wilson Hall. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go toward the Hayward Ellis Theatre Scholarship. Tickets can be reserved through the Twichell Box Office at (864) 596-9725.

Daryle has opened for and shared music with a variety of performers including James Taylor, Arlo Guthrie, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Herb Ellis and Chet Atkins. She has performed across the country and in Asia, Australia, Europe, and Japan.

Daryle, a Spartanburg native and Converse alumna, began a love affair with music when she started piano lessons at the age of five. Her father soon bought her a guitar and she gave her first performance, playing and singing “Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley.” By the time she entered Converse, she had experienced a wide variety of instruments including the clarinet, flute, violin, saxophone, organ, cello, viola, electric bass, and harmonica. Following the death of her father in the early 1970’s, Daryle dedicated her life to expressing her deepest emotions though music and began traveling across the U.S. with her guitar to perform.

Charlotte, N.C. has been her home since 1978. There she has been asked to perform for the mayor’s inauguration, the art museum’s fiftieth anniversary celebration, opening ceremonies at the Charlotte Coliseum, the Charlotte Symphony’s cabaret series, and Jazz Charlotte. She also has her own business, Lady Lullaby, which produces personalized songs for children. Visit her Website at http://www.daryleryce.com/.
