Dr. Jeffrey Howard Wins 2024 SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award
Dr. Jeffrey G. Howard, Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Converse University Writing Center, was honored at the South Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities faculty awards in Columbia, SC.
Members of independent higher education institutions across South Carolina, including campus presidents and chief academic officers, celebrated nearly two decades of excellence In teaching at the event.
Howard joined Converse in 2022. He received a PhD in English and the Teaching of English, and a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Idaho State University.
Howard was a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2018–22, where he taught courses in multimodal composition, undergraduate thesis writing, and technical communication. At Converse, he teaches writing and multimodal composition courses.
Converse University’s English program cultivates critical workplace skills, including reading analytically and communicating articulately, both verbally and written. Students study and analyze historical and contemporary literature, which equips them with the skills to express ideas effectively and confidently.
