Computer Science and Math Faculty Present at Virtual Conference

Dr. Joe Barrera, Dr. Mandy Mangum, and Dr. Jessica Sorrells attended the virtual Mathematical Association of America Southeastern Section conference in March 2021. Drs. Barrera and Mangum organized a special session on inquiry-based learning in online and socially distanced classrooms.

Dr. Sorrells gave an invited talk, “Digitally Collaborative IBL in Abstract Algebra.” Dr. Mangum presented a contributed talk, “Implementing an Online Self-Directed ALEKS Bridge Course for Algebra Skills Using Standards Grading.” Dr. Mangum was recently elected secretary of the newly formed Inquiry-Based Learning in the Southeast group.
