Dr. Mangum joined the faculty at Converse as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Data Science in 2019. Prior to joining Converse, she was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Niagara University where she received the 2018 Innovation in Teaching Award for her use of Mastery-Based Testing. Dr. Mangum was first introduced to the idea of MBT in her time as a 2014—2015 Mathematical Association of America Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) fellow and has been using MBT in several of her courses since Fall 2016.

She earned her PhD in Biomathematics and MS in Mathematics from North Carolina State University and her BS in Mathematics from Centre College. Dr. Mangum has been working on applying Self-Organizing Maps to atherosclerotic porcine plaques and has also been collaborating on a project concerning lipid separation on cassinian ovals.

Dr. Mangum and her husband are excited to be back in the Carolinas.
