Converse College Professor Wins National Award from Mortar Board
SPARTANBURG, S.C.– Jeff Poelvoorde, Associate Professor of Politics at Converse College, was awarded the Mortar Board National Excellence in Advising Award at the 2001 National Conference in Columbus, Ohio in July. Mortar Board is the national honor society that recognizes college seniors for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service.
Dr. Poelvoorde was nominated by the senior chapter members at Converse and chosen for exemplifying the ideals of Mortar Board. Over 200 chapter advisors from across the nation were nominated.
The students who recommended Dr. Poelvoorde included the following remarks:
