Class of 2020 Commencement

Converse is honoring the Class of 2020 and having Commencement activities to provide them the opportunity to walk across the Twichell stage, photo ops, and other social activities trying to incorporate as much of the Senior Week traditions that were missed due to the pandemic.

There will be a Processional with faculty members in caps and gowns, a Hats Off opportunity, the Sr. Brunch and Champagne (mimosa) toast, and photo opportunities. Many members of the Class of 2020 and its officers will be in key parts of all ceremonies, including PSoM grads, T&D grads, Nisbet Honors groups / photos, Legacies / photos, First Gen students, and more.

This event is for 2020 graduates and their guests only.

The Commencement Ceremony, Brunch, and Mimosa Toast are free to the Class of 2020 graduates.

What COVID-19 precautions are being taken?

As the country continues to recover from the pandemic, Converse is carefully monitoring the situation to provide appropriate protocols at the time of the Commencement event. We ask that all graduates and guests adhere to Converse protocols found  on this page, as they relate to COVID-19.

Masks are REQUIRED for all who plan to attend.

Each graduate and their guest(s) will also be required to complete the Guest Screening Questionnaire prior to entry into any campus building on the day of the event. We strongly encourage you to complete the questionnaire prior to your arrival on campus. A QR code linking to the Questionnaire will be available at the entrance to Twichell on the day of the event.

Is there a cost to participate in the in-person 2020 Commencement Ceremony or the brunch?

There is no charge for graduates to participate in either event.

What if a guest can’t attend the in-person event?

The 2020 Commencement event will be live-streamed beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 25. Graduates may share the link with family and friends to enjoy this special milestone.

What is the deadline to RSVP for this event?

Graduates of the Class of 2020 had until September 3, 2021, to RSVP for participation in this event. Registration for this event has now closed.

May attendees bring guests?

Registration for this event has closed.

Will professional photos be taken and available for purchase after the event?

A photographer will be onsite to take photos of graduates with the president when crossing the stage. Professional group photos will also be taken prior to the ceremony on the stairs of Wilson Hall for Legacy graduates and Nisbet Honor participants.

Are caps and gowns needed, and if so, what should I do if I don’t have them?

Caps and gowns are required for the ceremony. If you received other regalia recognition at the time of your graduation, you may wear those as well.
